10 – Illuminating Your Soul Mandala

In this video I talk about a foundational and important idea that is going to inform the rest of our work together – Illuminating Your Soul Mandala.

A Soul Mandala is a term I use for a sort of internal medicine wheel. It’s a map of the many different aspects of your psyche. This is a tool I’ve developed that takes inspiration from a few different human development models—Bill Plotkin’s Wild Mind map and Roger Strachan’s Self, Soul, Spirit model, as well as my own experiences working with the medicine wheel and other spirit guides and allies to discover my medicine.

Soul Work

1. Start noticing and naming your parts.

2. Draw a circle on a piece of paper and start placing your parts within the circle.

3. Consider what are your medicine parts that you’re already aware of? What are your ego parts? Often times medicine parts carry more archetypal energies and ego parts might fall into the categories of loyal soldiers, wounded children, escapists and/or shadow selves.

Especially now in the EAST, notice who has been showing up? Like the rising sun, the EAST is great at shining light on what was previously hidden. Say a prayer asking the EAST to help you see your parts more clearly.

Allow this to be an organic process. You might immediately know of a few off the top of your head, but then also just leave the map open on your desk or night stand, and let yourself add to it and evolve it throughout the program.
